*You are qualified to vote if:

Ø      You are a citizen of the United States

Ø      You are at least 18 years old on or before the day of the General Election.  If you will be 18 on or before the General Election, you may vote in the Primary Election for candidates, but not on issues.

Ø      You will be a resident of Ohio for at least 30 days before the election.

Ø      You register to vote at least 30 days before the election.

*How do I register to vote?

You may register to vote at one of the following locations:

Ø      At any County Board of Elections or the Secretary of State’s Office.

Ø      At any public library.

Ø      At any public high school or vocational school.

Ø      At the office of any Bureau of Motor Vehicles

Ø      At any offices of designated agencies which provide public assistance or disability programs.

Ø      At any County Treasurer’s Office.

Or request a registration form from the Board of Elections or the Secretary of State’s office by mail, telephone, in person or have another person obtain it for you or by printing the Voter Registration Form on the Secretary of State’s Website.

After completing the form, return it to the Board of Elections or Secretary of State’s office.

Mailed registration forms sent to the Boards of Elections or the Secretary of State’s office must be postmarked 30 days before an election to be valid for that election.

Registration forms not mailed must be received by a Board of Elections, the Secretary of State’s office, public high school or vocational school, public library, office of any Bureau of Motor Vehicles, County Treasurer’s Office or designated agencies 30 days before an election to be valid for that election.

*What if I have changed my address or name?

If you are already registered to vote in Brown County and have changed your address or changed your name, you must update your voter registration.  You update your voter registration by submitting a new voter registration form to the Board of Elections.  Or you may update your voter registration at any of the locations listed above.

*What address may I list as my residence?

Ohio law establishes your residence as the place to which, whenever you are absent, you have the intent to return.  A post office box or a business address is not an acceptable address for your residence.

*Where do I vote?

You will receive a postcard assigning you to the polling location designated to serve the precinct in which you reside. The card will also include the new identification requirement for voting. This card can not be used for ID. If you are in doubt as to the location of the polling place, call the Brown County Board of Elections at (937) 378-3008.

*Do I declare my political party affiliation when I register to vote?

No.  Under Ohio law, a person’s political party affiliation is determined by the party ballot they choose to vote in a partisan Primary Election.

Polling locations are open from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Election Day.
