Absentee File Download

The Absentee file includes the names and addresses of voters who were sent an Absentee Ballot from the Board of Elections. This file is only available as a dBase III-type database which can be imported into a word processor, spreadsheet, or database program or used in mail-merge programs. If you have any questions as to how or if you can use this file, please contact your computer and/or software supplier for more information.

The Absentee data is available for downloading in ZIP format only.  In order to view the items after the download, an additional program will be needed, such as WinZip, to unzip the files. (Note: If you use the WinZip link, follow the instructions on that site for downloading and correctly installing WinZip.)

Daily Absentee Database

  1. A separate window will pop up, notifying you that you have specified a download. Make sure "Save this file to disk" is marked, then click on the "Ok" button.
  2. You will then need to specify where to download the files on your computer. Select the directory to where you want the files saved. Once the appropriate directory is selected, click on the "Save" button.
  3. Once the file is downloaded, use whatever unzipping program you have to extract the Absentee file.

Opening a Voter Database (dbase) file using Microsoft Excel

  1. Open Microsoft Excel
  2. Go to File
  3. Go to Open
  4. In the "Files of Type" box, click on the down arrow and select "dbase" files
  5. In the "Look in" box, select the folder where the uncompressed file resides. Browse through the folders until you see the "absentee.dbf" file.  When this is found, highlight it, and click on OK.
  6. Click on the top left corner of the spreadsheet. Next to the A and above the 1.
  7. Click on format at the top of the screen.
  8. Click on Column.
  9. Click on Auto-Fit Selection.
