Armed Forces Absentee Voting


You may vote by armed service absentee ballot if:

  • You are an Ohio resident serving on active duty in the U.S. armed forces outside of the state.
  • You are the spouse or dependent child of a member of the U.S. armed forces serving outside of the state and otherwise eligible to vote as an Ohio resident.
  • You may request an armed forces absentee ballot from the Fayette County Board of Elections by:

  • Obtain an absentee ballot application from your voting officer and mail the completed application to the Fayette County Board of Elections. Contact us at 133 South Main Street Suite 404, Washington C.H., OH 43160.
  • Mail a letter to the Board of Elections with the following information:
  • Your name and address where you are registered to vote.
  • The election for which you are requesting a ballot.
  • Your party choice for a Primary Election or if you want an issues-only ballot.
  • The mailing address where you want your ballot sent.
  • Your signature as it appears on your voter registration card.
  • You may return your absentee ballot to the Fayette County Board of Elections by:

  • Mailing it to the Board of Elections using the envelope provided.
  • You or a relative may hand-deliver it to the Board of Elections.
  • Your absentee ballot must be received by the Board of Elections before 7:30 PM on Election Day to be counted. Ballots mailed from outside of the United States will be counted if postmarked no later than election day and received no later than 10 days after the election.
