also exempt if they left Ohio to be near the service member. |

How is residence determined? |
| |
|
By law your
residence is the place to which , whenever you are absent, you have the
intent to return, leaving for temporary purposes, such as military service or school attendance, does not result in a change
of residence for voting purposes, unless you register in the area where
you are currently residing |

be used to change your address. Changing your address can not be done over the phone.

|
|
Example Two: Moving into Union County. |
| |
|
You must re-register to vote
if you move into Union County. You are considered a new registration even if you already have been registered in Ohio or any other state. If you provide our office with your previous
Ohio address, we will notify your former voting district to cancel your old registration.
|
|
Example Three: Moving out of Union County. |
| |
|
You must re-register with
your new county’s board of election by mail or in person. You will be considered a new registration in your new county
or state. The new voting district (if in Ohio) will notify our office of your new
residence and you will be removed from Union County’s voting list
|
|
|
|
* Remember it does not matter if you move across the street, across town
or across county; you must register any change in your place of
residence. This is true even if you change apartment or lot number. Also
remember that a post office box can be part of your address, but your
voting location is determined by your street address and thus must be
included in any address change. By providing our office with both street
and post office box, you can be assured of our accuracy in processing
your registration. |
