What are the registration deadlines?
In order to vote in an election, you must register at least 30 days
prior to that election.
When is the election? The general
election is held every year on the first Tuesday after the first
Monday in November. This year, that date is November 8th. Primary
elections in non-presidential years are held on the first Tuesday
after the first Monday in May. Primaries in presidential years are
held on the first Tuesday in March. Special elections may be held in
either February or August.
When are the polls open? Polls open
at 6:30 a.m. and close at 7:30 p.m. on Election Day. This is the
same all across the state.

How do I vote absentee? The request must include your
name, address, birthdate and one of the following:
|
 |
Ohio drivers license # |
 |
Last four digits of SSN # |
 |
Copy of current and valid photo ID, a current utility bill,
bank statement, government check, paycheck, or other
government document that shows your name and address
|
As well as the date of the election for the
ballot you are requesting. It must also must include your signature.
How do I change my party? In the
state of Ohio, party affiliation is determined by how a person votes
in a primary election. If a person requests a party ballot in a
primary, that party will be reflected on his or her record until
they vote in another primary and request to change. Only voting for
that party can change party affiliation.
What's on the ballot? In
even-numbered years, national, statewide, district and county races
are held (such as president, state representative, commissioners,
etc.). In odd-numbered years, local races are held (such as mayor,
township trustee, school board, etc.). In special elections, only
issues appear on the ballot.
How do I become a poll worker? If
you are interested in becoming a poll worker, you must be a
registered voter, and must have previously voted a party in a
primary election. If you qualify, give us a call at 374-6828, and we
will be glad to include you in our next training session.
