JUNE 11, 2014 – The Clinton County Board of Elections announced it will be sending a required
mailing in the next two weeks to over 1,500 county voters as part of the General Voter Records
Maintenance Program. The state program, designed to help ensure that accurate and current voter
registration rolls are maintained, sends notices to voters who may have moved and not updated their
registered address, as identified by the U.S. Post Office, and gives them the opportunity to update their
record by mail or online. The program also sends notices to voters who have had no voter initiated
activity in the previous four years to verify they are still residing at the address on file with the board of
elections.
The General Voter Records Maintenance Program, previously a biannual process and now an annual
process after a change in state law, requires all boards of elections in Ohio to send the notice to voters
in a #10 envelope that contains a confirmation/change form and a #9 postage paid envelope in which to
return the form. Besides their address, voters will be asked for their name, signature, and some form of
identification such as their driver license number or the last four digits their Social Security number.
Additionally, voters are asked to provide their mailing address, such as a post office box number, if it
differs from their residential address. Notified voters can also respond to the notice by providing the
information online at www.MyOhioVote.com/moved.htm.
“If you receive a notice, we encourage you to respond in a timely manner so we can get your record
updated and accurate as we head into this year’s very busy Gubernatorial Election,” said Betsy Hart,
Clinton County Board of Elections Director. “If you don’t respond, your record could be changed to an
inactive status which could cause you issues when you go to vote, especially if your address hasn’t been
updated.”
