PUBLIC NOTICE REGARDING PETITIONS

1. The BOE Petition Policy does not permit the BOE board members or
staff to state how many valid signatures are on your petition PRIOR TO
BOARD CERTIFICATION.
2. The BOE Petition Policy is posted on our website and copies are
available from this office upon request.
3. We encourage you to file as soon as possible so the BOE can
promptly check your petition and allow time for you to review your
petition prior to the filing deadline on February 5, 2014.
4. After the BOE completes the signature verification, you may come to
the office to request to see your petition to determine for yourself if
you wish to proceed with your candidacy. IF you determine there are
deficiencies, you may withdraw your candidacy (not the petition) by
filing a written statement with the BOE, take out a new set of petition
papers and re-circulate the petition. The filing deadline for the
second petition is still February 5, 2014.

The Board of Elections is not required by law to provide petitions or advice
to prospective candidates regarding the requisites of such petitions or
running for public office. The Board provides petitions as a matter of
courtesy. The Board does not warrant that the petitions provided are
correct and explicitly disclaims any representations regarding the
petitions. If you are unsure of requirements for proper completion of
petitions for elective offices, you may wish to consult an attorney.

Pursuant to Ohio Secretary of State Directive 2011-18, employees of the
Board of Elections are prohibited from pre-checking petitions before the
original petition is filed.
PLEASE READ ALL THE AVAILABLE MATERIALS BEFORE
COMPLETING & CIRCULATING YOUR PETITION.
